Felix Update: 9/13/24
He has been doing dialysis all night long at home and getting used to it. Part of the house looks like a hospital. He is getting used to working and dealing with his treatments. This is how our life will be until we find someone.
Still waiting on our hero. We have had 1000 people go to his donor page.
Please keep praying that we find someone and sending all the positive thoughts. He/we need it. Thank you to all the friends that reach out and check on him/me weekly. We appreciate you thinking of us.
A very speciak thank you to Mark Hughes for making the "Felix needs a kidney donor" t-shirts for anyone to buy and wear around. I got mine and will be wearing it to an event at the end of the month since I will be around a lot of people.
Please keep sharing all these sites. The more people it reaches the better.

Felix Update: 9/2/24
I asked him to smile.
He is getting used to doing dialysis all night long at home. Our extra bedroom and guest bathroom look like a hospital but at least he is at home. New side effects is dizziness after treatment. He has to do it everyday for almost 2 weeks then they will see if he needs to keep to everyday or every other day.
We went as a family to a show, he slept through half of it but at least he got a little fresh air, little walking and family time.
Still waiting on our hero. We have had 1000 people go to his donor page. 4 clicked to see if they could donate. 2 did not qualify and 2 we don't know anything about. The site doesn't tell us anything more.
Please keep praying that we find someone and sending all the positive thoughts. He/we need it. Thank you to all the friends that reach out and check on him/me weekly. We appreciate you thinking of us.
-A very special thank you for my Mom. She got permission from the HOA to put a sign in the front of the complex with the QR code on it. Great idea!
-Thank you to my sister for wearing one of Felix Donate A kidney t-shirts while flying on business from Atlanta to Vegas.
-Thank you to Becky Fine Callahan for sending some beautiful cards and lovely hand written notes in side to us and a lovely lavender relaxation stress kit.
Please keep sharing all this sites. The more the better.

Felix update 8/25/24
Second week coming up of 5hrs a day dialysis.
Still having trouble sleeping
Very weak
Skin peeling
Back pain
And all the other symptoms he has all the time. Except he is off the crutches now.
He lost 20 pounds just during that one week in the hospital. He is down 75 pounds. That's from being sick.
We did a family day today and he felt ok enough to go out to a noon movie, it ended up just us four in the theater in the lay back chairs. Cozy and with family, it was a nice moment.
Please keep sharing. I will not give up until we find his hero. It just takes one person to change his life.

Felix Update 8/21/24:
He got out of the hospital late Saturday night.
Sunday he had very bad swelling in his eyes, very frequently urinating and pain.
Monday we went to see his doctor to talk about all these bad symptoms. She have him two prescriptions to help him with these bad symptoms.
Tuesday he had his first in clinic dialysis treatment that was a 6 hour day. For the next two weeks he has to go daily and have 5 hour treatmens plus transportation, it's 6 hours each day. This is during his port healing and learning to do it on his own. During this time we have to get the house ready for in home treatment to start until we can find a donor. He has to be VERY careful of germs and infections. He is still having different symptoms and barely getting any sleep. He has lot a bunch of more weight and looks weak and tired but he is trying to stay positive.

Some good news.
Felix got out of the hospital late last night. He has to see the doctors Monday and start to learn how he will need to do dialysis on his own but at least he is feeling better. It's going to take two weeks for the port to heal so he really needs to go slow and take it easy.
I wanted to say a soecial thank you to all the wonderful nurses and doctors at #CelebrationHospital. Everyone was very pleasant and kind. They took great care of him and always did it with such kindness, not a single grumpy person.
Another huge thank you to family, friends, co-workers and even strangers for all the prayers and well wishes. It made him feel so loved and never lonely.
He has made it through this difficult week but he still has a long way to go. We need to find our special kidney donor still so he can really recover so please keep sharing all the info from all my posts. Thank you everyone from the bottom of our heart.

Update:
Felix had his second port put in his stomach yesterday. He had lots of pain and burning so they had him on meds. They did an ultra sound because he couldn't urinate but finally was able to after hours. His heart rate and blood pressure kept getting elevated during the night.
This morning they decided to do another dialysis treatment. They are trying to get him to a point that he can be ok until his permanent port heals, that takes about two weeks to heal. They are watching for signs of infections and watching his blood pressure and the new port. I think they might end up keeping him today. We are hoping maybe tomorrow they will let him go home. We are hoping to talk to doctor today to get more info and a plan.
Please keep sharing his GoFundMe page so it can reach more people. Feel free to post on your socials or page please. This is a big way to help.

Many people have asked "how they can help" or "if we need anything". Besides deciding if you would like to be a donor and sharing is need and story, donating anything IF YOU CAN would be a major help. At first I really did not want to do this but after a bunch of people suggesting it I started to think it over more. We have A LOT of expenses coming up that insurance doesn't cover during this stage of life.
I wanted to just mention a few that come to mind at this point:
- flight for a donor if needed
- he has to stay in a hotel for a month after transplant within two miles of hospital. No matter where the surgery takes place
- all meals in hotel during recovery
- he has to have someone stay with him during the recovery month so he needs to pay there food, transportation and hotel also
- co-pay for every doctor visit
- weekly prescriptions and some medications for life
- the percent of a bill that insurance doesn't cover
This money would help us very much during this long road to recovery. With a very heartfelt thank you if you can donate and even if you can't during this time, thank you.

Wednesdays Update on Felix
I'm with Felix at the Hospital. Yesterday was VERY hard on him but he is much better today. Breathing is better, still on oxygen.
First dialysis yesterday really helped. Second one will be this afternoon some time. They are using the emergency port that is in his neck until he is well enough for the second long term port. They have to get rid of the pneumonia first.
He ate good and has real good energy today.
I have to keep reminding him to slow because he is so much better than Monday and Tuesday.
The stuff in his chest is getting better. Hopefully by the weekend they can do the other port.
That's all I know at this time. Keep the prayers and positive energy coming, it's working.
